The Moscow magistrate fined the Airbnb service for repeatedly refusing to locate the data of Russians in the Russian Federation, as required by law. This is reported by TASS with reference to the magistrate’s district court No. 422, where the decision was made.

The court imposed a second fine on Airbnb for refusing to locate the Russians’ data

The service was found guilty of repeated failure to comply with the obligation to ensure registration, systematization, accumulation and storage of data of Russian citizens in the country.

This is not the first fine the company has received for this crime. In early June, the court ordered Airbnb to pay 2 million rubles.

The service stopped operating in Russia and Belarus in March 2022 due to the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The company has been providing services in the Russian Federation since 2012.

In October, the court again fined the video conferencing service Zoom for refusing to locate the Russians’ data. The fine amounted to 15 million rubles. The Israeli service MyHeritage also received two fines for similar violations.
