without much noise, Netflix has retired its popular customer support account on Twitter, after more than 13 years of helping out and 900,000 tweets.. This is the second worst news we’ve had this year, after shared passwords expire.
A Netflix spokesperson explained to American outlet Variety that the end of Netflix CS customer service (@Netflixhelps) is not related to the company’s recent budget cut moves.
The company’s @Netflixhelps Twitter account was created in February 2009, when the company was still primarily a DVD-mail provider. and the streaming service was in its early days. The account has around 270,000 followers.
As of June 30, 2022, @Netflixhelps has stopped providing assistance to Twitter users. And now Netflix has confirmed that the company has suspended customer support on Twitter as of that date.
The company continues to offer three customer service options in its name.: phone support by country; online chat via website; and search for Netflix from publisher apps for Android or iOS phones or tablets.
While Netflix’s subscriber base shrank in the first half of 2022, the company took several cost-cutting measures.
In the second quarter, Netflix made several rounds of layoffs, laid off nearly 500 employees, and received a $70 million fee related to the layoff costs of the period.
It also recorded an impairment charge of $80 million related to the reduction of some office leases in the second quarter.
The company is also reining in content spending: They expect to spend $17,000 million in cash for 2022 (compared to the previous estimate of 18,000 million) and content spend for 2023 at “similar levels to this 2022”.
