Fraudsters are actively using a new method of deception through advertising applications. They search by pretending to be employees of popular services, which makes their searches more reliable. Attackers persuade victims to transfer money in exchange for goods, then try to access a bank account using tricks.
Fraudsters act sequentially: First a request for money transfer, then an attempt to get a code from the bank message. A few days later, the victim receives a call from the fraudster’s accomplice posing as a bank employee and offers to “save” the money through a “secure” account. After a successful scam, they disappear with the stolen money.
VTB recommends careful handling of advertising platforms by adhering to secure methods within the resources themselves. The bank also reminds you of the importance of not giving your personal banking information to strangers or sharing account or card numbers and single-use codes.
