Scientists from South Ural State University (SUSU) are developing an application to combat gadget addiction.

It is called “Digital Asceticism” and is available in RuStore. According to the developers, it helps solve two problems at once: it allows teenagers and junior students to reduce their dependence on gadgets and learn to surf the Internet.

The program includes a 7-day interactive course, which includes an assignment to develop several skills at once – critical thinking, self-care and monitoring your digital footprint. Also, special attention is paid to cyberbullying; there are also quotes from famous philosophers to “stimulate keeping a philosophical diary to reflect on what you read.”

Experts interviewed called the new application “an important step towards combating gadget addiction.” However, it lacks interactivity and there is no way to evaluate the work done. [Известия]
