Russian vertical greenhouse manufacturer iFarm has started construction of a farm in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. He said so in a statement.
The total area of the estate will be more than 2 thousand square meters. M. At the first stage, it is planned to grow microgreens and lettuce. The total production capacity of the farm is estimated at 23 tons per month. It is expected to become operational in the fall of 2022.
iFarm notes that the demand for fresh herbs, salad leaves and vegetables is very high in the local market, where the produce will be sold. In the future, iFarm’s client plans to expand the project and build vertical startup farms in other cities in Saudi Arabia.
The launch of a vertical strawberry farm in Mumbai, India is also planned for the end of 2022.
In early September, iFarm launched the first vertical farm for the cosmetics industry. Chanel’s partner will grow microgreens, herbs and flowers there for its products.
