The company had previously given iPhone 14 owners two years free after activating the device, which will expire in 2024.
Now all existing iPhone 14 users will be able to use this service free of charge for another two years.
Apple has not yet announced how much it will cost to use Emergency SOS via satellite after the free period ends, and today’s announcement means the company may delay making a decision on the matter until a later date.
The free period for iPhone 15 users has not been extended. This means iPhone 15 users are still stuck with the two-free year model, which ends in September 2025.
Thus, the free periods for iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 users will end at approximately the same dates, starting from autumn 2025.
As a reminder, Emergency SOS via Satellite allows compatible iPhone users to send short text messages to nearby emergency services even if they’re out of Wi-Fi or cellular coverage.
