Microsoft announced Windows AI Studio, a new artificial intelligence (AI) feature for programmers. The tool combines the power of Azure AI Studio and other catalogs Create smaller language models for native use.
“Many developers and companies are looking to bring differentiated AI experiences to their apps, and we’ve heard from these developers that they need an easier, more reliable way to get started with native AI development,” Microsoft explains.
In practice, the platform allows developers to “tune, customize and distribute” uvula models (SLM or in free translation “Small Language Models”), for example Phi from Microsoft, Llama 2 and Mistral from Meta. The role provides guided and fine-grained workspace configuration to provision resources.
In Microsoft AI Studio, Developers can import their own databases to feed AI. In the coming weeks, the platform will be available as an extension to VS Code, providing greater familiarity and accessibility for programmers.
What are SLMs?
SLMs are less powerful versions of LLMs, advanced language models such as GPT-4.0. They are more economical because their ability to interpret and produce content is more limited.
Because they are simpler, these language models can be implemented into programs for local use by being processed on the computer itself, without having to communicate with servers.
