Yandex.Taxi must locate its servers on the territory of Belarus. Previously, the country’s president, Alexander Lukashenko, called for tightening legislation in the field of control of carriers, including foreign ones.

Yandex.Taxi will create a legal entity and place servers in Belarus

“Now they probably found out [в «Яндекс.Такси»]While the relevant documents are being prepared, we are gradually beginning to move servers and create legal entities on the territory of the Republic of Belarus,” Belarusian Transport Minister Alexei Liakhnovich said in an interview with the Belarus 1 television channel.

Lyakhnovich stressed that the concept of “aggregator” does not exist in Belarusian legislation. There is a taxi “dispatcher” with the corresponding responsibilities.

In addition, the country’s authorities want Yandex.Taxi cars to be different from other cars. The minister cited the example of taxis in Moscow, where vehicle registration requirements are respected, since in Russia the legislation is “stricter.”

Earlier this week, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko held a meeting on road passenger transportation, during which he criticized the work of illegal taxi services.

He emphasized that these companies “transport at random, steal, do not pay taxes”, which is why the country’s budget loses tens of millions of rubles and bona fide carriers go bankrupt.

Lukashenko demanded the establishment of uniform and transparent “rules of the game”, as well as full state control in this area.
