Blogger Valeria Chekalina (Lerchek) and her husband Artem Chekalin paid the Federal Tax Service 500 million rubles in taxes and fines. According to the family’s lawyer, the couple has fully paid their debt to the State.
“The Chekalins unconditionally fulfilled their public promise and fully paid the debt to the budget, taking into account additional sanctions and fines,” Konstantin Tretyakov, the Chekalins’ lawyer, told TASS.
According to the lawyer, the bloggers made an additional payment of 296 million rubles. Part of the 311 million previously paid was also used to pay current taxes. The total amount, taking into account arrears, sanctions and fines, amounted to 500 million rubles.
Tretyakov emphasized that the payment of the amount was possible after the arrest was written off from the Chekalins’ account. At the end of September 2023, the lawyer asked the Investigative Commission to lift the arrest of his clients’ accounts. In July, Tretyakov submitted a similar request to Moscow’s Savelovsky court, but the court later rejected it.
In March it became known that a criminal case had been initiated against blogger Lerchek and her husband for non-payment of taxes worth 300 million rubles.
