At the end of June 2023, the St. Petersburg Arbitration Court introduced a monitoring procedure in relation to the healthy food delivery service of Jim Meal LLC (Fresh Lab). Creditors include Torg Service LLC, Vkusville JSC, Sberbank PJSC, VEB.RF and others. They ask to return a total of more than 7 million rubles. RB.RU was unable to contact the company’s representatives. Sberbank declined to comment, Vkusville and VEB. RF” did not respond to the request.

Healthy food delivery service Fresh Lab faces bankruptcy over debt

The bankruptcy procedure was initiated by Torg-Service, which in February 2021 sued Jim Mil LLC for contractual debt in the amount of 721.6 thousand rubles. This was followed by a statement declaring the company insolvent.

Since the company’s debt exceeds 300 thousand rubles, overdue for more than three months, confirmed by a judicial act, the court introduced a monitoring procedure and appointed a temporary manager.

“The monitoring procedure is the first stage of bankruptcy of a legal entity and is introduced to preserve the property of the debtor. To this end, during the observation period, the seizure of the company’s assets is lifted, enforcement procedures are suspended, fines and sanctions for overdue debts are not imposed, seizure of assets is prohibited, etc. The general director and other senior managers members of the debtor have not yet been removed from the management of the company, but continue to function exclusively with the consent of the temporary director,” explained lawyer Yana Matatova.

The temporary administrator is appointed by the court. His tasks include analyzing the financial situation of the company, monitoring the security of property and preparing a report on the possibility of restoring the debtor’s solvency.

The lawyer emphasized that while the company is under observation, it continues to operate and only from the results of the first stage of the bankruptcy proceedings will it become clear whether the debtor will be able to continue its commercial activities on the market, gradually regaining its solvency. and pay debts to creditors, or even end its activities by liquidating the company.

Ivan Fedyakov, general director of the INFOLine news agency, commenting on the current situation of the company, noted that the matter is quite banal: on the one hand, the fall in income of the population and the emigration of the target group, and on the other another the other, the competition of the big actors. According to the analyst, these projects cannot survive.

Gym Meal was founded in Saint Petersburg in 2016 by Artem Krylov and Stanislav Tkachev. As RB.RU wrote, the company did not get third-party financing.

RB.RU organizes a project meeting Founders Monday for beginners and experienced entrepreneurs. Twice a month on Mondays.

According to Rusprofile, since 2021 Gym Meal’s revenue has been falling continuously, in 2022 it decreased by 75% and amounted to 14 million rubles.

In 2020, the service changed its name: the project was renamed Fresh Lab. In April 2022, Fresh Lab decided to sell its own production area of 768 m2. m in St. Petersburg after six years of work. The decision was reportedly made “due to the unstable market situation, declining demand and rising food prices.”

A court hearing to consider introducing the next procedure in the bankruptcy case is scheduled for November 22, 2023.
