Affected workers were given eight weeks’ notice, according to Radio-Canada. They were offered a place on a waiting list for future projects or the assistance of a business consultant. Job opportunities are not expected to open until 2026.

The layoffs coincided with Suicide Squad’s troubled commercial failure.

The cuts add to a bleak year for the gaming industry, with layoffs affecting Ubisoft, Activision Blizzard, Xbox and other companies. This was despite the industry’s projected revenue of $187 billion in 2024.
