The announcement came after the company announced the dismissal of its executive chairman, citing only a loss of confidence in his ability to maintain leadership.

Musk, who left OpenAI’s board of directors in 2018 due to a conflict of interest with Tesla, expressed concerns about the company’s potential impact on society.

He emphasized that, given the risks and power of advanced artificial intelligence, the public should be informed about the reasons for the board’s decision.

Possible reasons for Altman’s dismissal include growing tensions within company management over the dangers artificial intelligence could pose to humanity.

While Altman has actively sought funding to expand development of the technology, other board members have urged the company to focus more on reducing potential threats.

For example, OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever, who is said to have played a role in Altman’s dismissal, preferred a more cautious approach, given the potential harm that artificial intelligence could inflict on society.
