The government has commissioned the creation of a prize for solving millennium mathematical problems. In the US, a million dollars are offered to solve them. In total there are seven problems of this type and only one of them has been solved.
Mikhail Mishustin ordered the creation in Russia of a prize for solving mathematical problems of the millennium. This is stated in a message on the Russian government website.
The task of preparing proposals for the creation of the award was entrusted to the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economic Development. The proposals must be ready by April 15, 2024, the government said.
The Millennium Problems are seven mathematical problems identified as important problems that will not be solved for many years. The list of these problems consists of the Poincaré conjecture, the equality of the classes P and NP, the Hodge conjecture, the Riemann hypothesis, the Yang-Mills theory, the existence and smoothness of solutions to the Navier equations -Stokes, the Birch-Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture.
At the moment only one millennium problem has been solved: the Poincaré conjecture. In the United States they offer 1 million dollars each to solve other problems.
