Yandex plans to double the number of delivery robots. A Yandex representative reported this to iPhones.ru.
Yandex currently has 130 rovers that operate in Moscow, Innopolis, Murino, as well as at the Rosa Khutor and Krasnaya Polyana resorts. Next year the company will increase their number to 260.
The rovers will be transferred to another company to deliver goods over a distance of up to two kilometers. Yandex is currently discussing the use of delivery robots with large chain supermarkets, vegetables and fast food restaurants.
Yandex will fully expect qualified support for rovers, warranty service and their navigation around the city.
The company added that since its launch in 2019, the rovers have covered 600 thousand kilometers and delivered 300 thousand orders. In 2023, delivery by robocouriers took on average 8-12 minutes.
