Music streaming service Yandex Music introduced a new brand platform, logo and visual style, and also switched to a new recommendation model using deep neural networks in “My Wave.” This is indicated in the platform message.

The intelligent recommendation system “My Wave” now uses deep neural networks to understand the formation of users’ musical interests and predict possible options for their development.

“By analyzing the history of listening, the sequence of musical tracks and other factors, “My Wave” can now capture the direction of development of a person’s musical taste and predict their hobbies. This is similar to the work of modern language models, such as Yandex GPT, but in the context of music,” explained Alexander Safronov, head of recommendations at Yandex Music.

At the same time, key sections of the service were updated.

The main screen of Yandex Music has become completely personalized: it now has a quick transition to the “Collection”, a listening history in “My Wave” by favorite genres, and the “In Style” and “Met in My Wave” sections they have added.

In the updated “Collection” section, a special “My Wave” appeared from the music collected by the user. Here the system will offer tracks from all musical sections of the “Collection”, as well as complementing them with new ones, similar in style and sound.

The service also updated its logo, which abandoned generally accepted musical associations (music note). The central graphic element is a bright impulse, symbolizing the user’s moment of inspiration from the music carefully selected for him.

The development of the new identity was carried out by the design team of the Yandex business unit “Plus Fantech” together with designer Vadik Marmeladov from the Shchuka design bureau, as well as the Contrast Foundry typography studio.
