While 2023 faces headwinds due to weak demand for PCs and smartphones, next year promises a chip boom across all sectors. In fact, a Gartner forecast predicts that by 2027, more than 20% of server systems will be equipped with dedicated accelerators, accelerating the development of artificial intelligence.

Gartner analyst vice president Alan Priestley said GPUs won’t be enough to save the semiconductor industry from a double-digit decline in 2023. “Reduced demand from smartphone and PC buyers combined with weak data center/high scaler spending is driving revenue declines this year.”
