Table reservations in Moscow’s premium restaurants for New Year’s Eve are noticeably more active this year than in 2022. According to restaurateurs, this reflects an improvement in consumer sentiment.

The number of reservations for the New Year in Moscow restaurants has doubled

As representatives of the restaurant business told RBC, advance sales of tickets for New Year’s Eve increased by 1.5-2 times year on year.

In particular, the Maison Dellos restaurant group (Café Pushkin, Turandot, Matryoshka, Kazbek, etc.) recorded in early December an increase in reservations of 40-50% compared to 2022. At the end of November, 70% of The tickets were sold at the group’s establishments.

At the same time, prices for New Year’s Eve in Maison Dellos restaurants increased by 10%. The cost of tickets for a festive evening at the Turandot restaurant starts at 80 thousand rubles. Representatives of the group told the publication that they expect a 100% landing by the New Year.

Tickets for New Year’s Eve in the establishments of the Rappoport Restaurants holding company were completely sold out at the beginning of the second week of December. About half of the tables are already reserved in the restaurants of the White Rabbit Family holding (White Rabbit and Guidon).

The founder of the Myaso&Ryba restaurant chain and chairman of the coordinating council of the Federation of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers, Sergei Mironov, stated that most restaurateurs do not sell tickets for the New Year, but rather accept a deposit.

At the same time, according to the specialist, prices have increased this year against the background of a general fall of the ruble against the dollar. Mironov believes that the increase in table reservations for the New Year indicates an improvement in consumer sentiment:

“They tell us: production is growing, inflation is not as high as expected, we have faced challenges, sanctions – this affects people’s mood, they want to have fun.”

Another reason for the increase in demand is problems with travel to Europe, which is why wealthy clients come to Moscow for New Years and Christmas.

Additionally, this year restaurants are booking more actively for pre-New Year corporate events. According to Mironov, this reflects the “current well-being index” and the indicator of “well-performing companies.”
