Motorola has been betting on premium mobiles with the Edge line for several years now. And recently the brand has launched in Brazil Motorola Edge 30 and Motorola Edge 30 Pro, smartphones that offer advanced features to compete in the highest segment of the category.

However, the last generation models – Motorola Edge 20, Motorola Edge 20 Pro and Motorola Edge 20 Lite – are still available, which may raise some suspicions in consumers at the time of purchase.

In this article, we will compare what has changed from generation to generation and explain which technical features stand out in each model.

Motorola Edge 30

It has 8GB RAM, 256GB internal storage, DualChip, 32MP front camera and high resolution triple rear camera!

Motorola Edge 30 is the standard model of the next generation, which is considered the thinnest 5G smartphone in the world. The company highlights the camera set of the device, which has a main sensor with a lower resolution than the previous model (108 MP versus 50 MP). But other cameras offer a better and more complete set.

In terms of design, Edge 30 and Edge 30 Pro do not bring major changes compared to their predecessors. This means that all devices are very beautiful and bring a sense of elegance befitting high-end models.

The Motorola Edge 30 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G Plus processor, a model similar to the Edge 20. Both have 8GB of RAM.

Featuring the new Octa-Core Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor combined with 12GB RAM + 256GB internal storage, the elegant design keeps the smartphone running in the best possible way and with full fluidity, preventing unwanted app crashes. It has a high resolution triple rear camera, Slow Motion mode and videos up to 8k!

Currently the most powerful device in the family is the Edge 30 Pro with the first generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 processor.

Combined with 12GB of RAM, this model is a true performance machine and can even be used as a computer when connected to a TV.

The camera set is the same as the Edge 30, but the battery is more robust here – 4800 mAh versus 4020 mAh. The screens of both devices are worth mentioning, thanks to 2400×1080 pixels (Full HD+) resolution and 144 Hz refresh rate. In fact, this is a feature shared by the entire Moto Edge family.

Motorola Edge 20

Practical for those who want to connect, this Motorola DualChip 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage is in a 108 MP camera with 4K image quality in addition to Ultra Pixel technology. It has a 6.7 inch OLED display and the excellent Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor, ideal for mobile gamers!

This handset was the model that started the trend for ultra-thin premium smartphones. The Motorola Edge 20 has the same processor as the Edge 30 and 8GB of RAM, which means that we are facing a powerful device even after a year of launch.

It’s important to note that the Edge 20 family (excluding the 20 Pro) is only available with 128GB of storage, while the Edge 30 models come with 256GB. The camera set in the three Edge 20 models stands out due to the 108 MP main sensor capable of creating very high resolution images.

Motorola Edge 20 Pro

It has a 6.7″ OLED display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, perfect for those who enjoy mobile games, more resistance and more memory than others in the line, and even 12GB of RAM.

The Edge 20 Pro is the best in the previous generation range and offers a range of technical features that are highly advanced by today’s standards. The emphasis goes to the firepower that makes it a portable PC, thanks to Motorola Ready For technology, just like the Edge 30 Pro.

The 6.7-inch display and 144Hz refresh rate were one of the most praised aspects of the device at the time of its release – a feature repeated in its successors. In addition to the design in general, the construction is also a very nice detail on the Edge 20 Pro.

Motorola Edge 20 Lite

With an elegant design and a weight of only 185 g, Motorola Edge 20 Lite Xt2139 has a 6.7 inch OLED display with 1080×2400 resolution. Triple rear camera with 108/8/2 MP and 32 MP plus Octa Core processor on front camera.

Although Motorola Edge 20 Lite is the “entry model” of the family, it still has interesting features.

The highlight is the 5000 mAh battery, which is the largest capacity among all the models listed in this article. Combined with the turbocharger, this device is a good companion for those who do not want to be at hand during the day.

The MediaTek MT6853 processor and 6GB of RAM justify the price and performance difference, but it can still run all existing applications with a certain degree of peace of mind.

It’s worth noting that Motorola has kept the camera array on the Edge 20 Lite, which is a nice plus point for the device.

Which model to choose?

If you’re looking for the best experience in the Motorola smartphone family and don’t mind the price, the Motorola Edge 30 Pro is definitely your pick. This is the most complete model and will be ready to last a few more years in your hands.

However, if firepower isn’t such a big deal and you’re still looking for an up-to-date device, the Edge 30 is a good option.

In the middle of these two options we have the Edge 20 Pro, a device that combines above-average performance and the fact that it is not a very old device. One positive thing about this smartphone is that it’s not as expensive as the Edge 30 and Edge 30 Pro, making it a good option for those who don’t want to spend too much.

The Edge 20 and Edge 20 Lite represent those options for those who really want to save money but prefer a device from the Motorola lineup. Among them, the Edge 20 Lite is more interesting in that it brings a long battery life and the same set of cameras as its siblings – making it an excellent value for money.
