Back in 2020, Epic Games began to fight Google’s monopoly after removing Fortnite from the Play Market and adding its own payment system to the game, bypassing Google Play.

And today, December 12, the jury found Google guilty of monopoly of the application store with its billing system. The ruling also states that the company is abusing its leading position in the Android app store market.

During the trial, in particular, it was established that the company violates agreements with smartphone manufacturers and strictly adheres to developers so that their connection remains in Google Play and does not move to other stores.

It is not yet known what Google’s loss in court will entail. The decision will be made only in January. [The Verge]
