Finland will open two checkpoints on the border with Russia from December 14

The Vaalimaa-Torfyanovka checkpoints in the Leningrad Region and Niirala-Vyartsilya in Karelia will be open from December 14. The Finnish government reports this.

At the moment, the decision to open points is valid until January 14, 2024.

In November, Finland closed all checkpoints on its border with Russia due to an influx of refugees using Russia as a transit country.

Two points were opened to check if the situation had changed. If the flow of refugees continues, the points will be closed again, said Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo.
