In Russia, fines for illegal collection and processing of personal data have multiplied. Previously, for example, for a legal entity they amounted to up to 50 thousand rubles, now up to 700 thousand rubles. The legislative amendments also refer to violations when working with biometric data.
Vladimir Putin signed a law establishing a new amount of fines for illegal collection and processing of personal data. The document was published on the legal information portal.
Fines for individuals were increased to 10-15 thousand rubles, for officials – to 100-300 thousand rubles, for legal entities – to 300-700 thousand rubles. In case of repeated violations, the fines increase exponentially. Previously, the fine for officials was 20-40 thousand rubles, for legal entities – 30-50 thousand rubles.
The legislative amendments also establish penalties for illegal placement and updating of biometric data by organizations, including banks, in a unified state system. Officials will be fined from 100 to 300 thousand rubles, legal entities – from 500 thousand rubles to 1 million rubles.
