Over the past year, more than 1 million game consoles were sold in Russia – this is 2 times more than in 2022.
As reported by M.Video-Eldorado, about 35% of this amount comes from PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo, and in monetary terms they occupy more than 85% of the market. The entire console market amounted to 18 billion rubles; last year it was about 8 billion rubles.
On Yandex Market and Wildberry, sales increased by 2.7 and 3.8 times, respectively. The most popular were PlayStation and Xbox. At the same time, the Market saw an increase in the popularity of retro and mobile consoles, and on Wildberry the demand for versions with a blueray disk drive increased.
M.Video-Eldorado noted that the growth in popularity of consoles is associated with the restoration of the range due to the adjustment of supply chains, the low base effect, the release of expected game releases and the general increase in the popularity of gaming in the country.
Anton Fomin, head of retail projects at IT holding Fplus, noted that the most popular console was PlayStation, followed by Xbox and Steam Deck (both in second place), and Nintendo in third place. [Ведомости]
