Ozon will launch a platform for truckers. It will work on the Uber model – the principle of fast transactions, writes RBC.
In 2023, the market placed more than 900,000 long-distance transportation orders. Almost 7,000 heavy truck drivers currently collaborate with Ozon.
According to company estimates, the new service will double the number of cargo transports. Ozon also hopes to cover half of its transportation needs with the new platform by the end of next year and waive carrier commissions amounting to 500 million rubles, reducing logistics costs, attracting and connecting drivers with the job. During the nine months of this year, Ozon delivered 639 million orders, 2.2 times more than last year.
In November, Ozon developed its own device to automatically measure the dimensions and weight of products in logistics centers. It was created by the Ozon Tech team at Innopolis. When calculating dimensions, the development uses camera images, computer vision technologies and machine learning algorithms. The device also recreates a 3D model of the object.
