The Russian authorities have no intention of nationalizing the Baltika company, which belongs to the Danish Carlsberg consortium. Finance Minister Anton Siluanov spoke about this at a meeting with journalists.

Siluanov: Russian authorities have no intention to nationalize Baltika

“At the moment we are not planning any nationalization, we have talked about it,” Interfax quotes the head of the Ministry of Finance.

At the beginning of this month it became known that the president of Baltika, Taimuraz Bolloev, wrote a letter to the director of the Federal Property Management Agency with a proposal to nationalize the company, emphasizing that this is “the only way out in the current situation. “

“Baltika is under temporary management, similar to decisions made by hostile countries. That’s all. There is no talk of any nationalization,” said Siluanov.

In March 2022, on the occasion of the start of a special operation in Ukraine, Carlsberg suspended investments in exports to the Russian Federation and then left the Russian market. In mid-2023, the company planned to sell its Russian business.

However, in July 2023, Vladimir Putin signed a decree transferring Baltika to the management of the Federal Property Management Agency. Carlsberg’s CEO accused Russian authorities of stealing his business, to which the Finance Ministry responded that the company is not state property.
