Pharmacy records containing sensitive data on mental health, birth control and more are freely accessible across state lines, creating a “digital trail” that could potentially lead people back to their home states.
The pharmacy giants said they are only seeking a subpoena, not a search warrant, to share the records, making it easier for law enforcement to access private health information.
