Food delivery service Kitchen on the Area closed its only outlet in Moscow’s Afimall shopping center to relaunch this format in 2024, the company’s marketing director Elizaveta Rudykh told Shopper’s.
The offline outlet “Cocinas de la zona” was launched in the summer of 2023. The menu offered around 100 dishes including prepared dishes and drinks. The prices were the same as when ordering food online.
When launching the project, the company planned to reach a new audience, according to service development director Semyon Abbakumov. Abbakumov estimated investments in one of those establishments at up to 1 million rubles.
The profitability target was set at a level comparable to that of an online business.
At the beginning of this month, “Kitchen in the District”, in collaboration with Samokat, began work in eight new cities of Russia: Kazan, Tver, Nizhny Novgorod, Veliky Novgorod and in the cities of the Moscow region Kolomna, Noginsk and Orekhovo-Zuevo.
