Microsoft confirmed this Tuesday (19): Windows 11 cumulative updates can cause problems with your computer’s Wi-Fi. The statement came after Reddit, Twitter (X) users and company communities spoke out about the instability.
“Microsoft has received reports of an issue that causes some Wi-Fi adapters to fail to connect to some networks after installation [da atualização] KB502288,” Microsoft pointed out in an update to the Windows health hub.
Problem according to Microsoft looks Affects users trying to access work, education, or public Wi-Fi networks with 802.1x authentication. According to consumers, the issue also interferes with corporate networks (ubcsecure, ubcprivate and eduroam).
Microsoft is currently investigating the cause of the issue. To speed up the process, the company is asking users affected by the bug to provide feedback using the Feedback Hub “Reproduce issue” tool.
Workaround for the problem in Windows 11
Until Microsoft releases an update containing the fix, the best alternative for affected consumers is to manually uninstall the update. The process is not complicated but takes time. Check it step by step:
- Open the Start menu;
- Search for “Windows Update” in the search bar;
- Go to “Update history” and click “Uninstall updates”;
- Select the problematic package (KB5033375 or KB50532288) in the list of installed builds and click the “Uninstall” button;
- Once completed, restart your computer.
After following the tutorial the computer should boot without any update additions and without any problems. To make sure the error doesn’t occur again, disable Windows Update’s automatic updates for a while.
