2023 is leaving us, but Internet It continues to work quickly and in 1 minute many events occur simultaneously on the network.
Data platform Domo just released the Data Never Sleeps 11.0 infographic, which shows a different thing happening on the Internet in 2023 every minute. They’ve been tracking the world’s data use for over a decade, down to the minute, and the numbers consistently show that the ways we use data are constantly evolving, not shrinking.
Some interesting things they noticed this year are that the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the way we communicate, work and create, with ChatGPT users sending 6,944 requests per minute. Digital payments continue to replace traditional transactions, with Venmo users sending $463,000 in payments every minute. Fans are streaming Taylor Swift’s song at a whopping 69.4k per minute, and so is cybercrime on the rise, with cybercriminals launching 30 DDoS attacks in one internet minute.
Overall, the global internet population has grown significantly this year and stands at 5.2 billion people as of November 2023, approximately 64.6% of the world’s population.
