The decision comes in response to a decision by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) restricting the sale of Apple watches that measure blood oxygen due to a patent dispute with medical technology company Masimo.
Apple announced that it plans to stop selling the Series 9 and Ultra 2 models in the United States on its website starting Thursday and in its offline stores starting Sunday.
Wedbush Securities analyst Dan Eves estimates the move could cost the company about $300 million to $400 million in holiday sales.
But that amount is relatively small for Apple, considering analysts expect Apple to generate about $120 million in sales between October and December, including the holiday season.
