According to Ookla, Russia fell to 102nd place in the list of countries with the fastest mobile internet. This change during the year is explained by the introduction of 5G technology in other countries, which is not yet available in Russia. However, this does not indicate a disruption in cellular communications in the country, but rather global changes in the mobile communications market.

Russia remained outside the top 100, replaced by Uzbekistan, Indonesia and Tunisia. United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait have become leaders in mobile internet speed. For example, in the UAE the average average speed exceeds 325 Mbps; this is significantly higher than the slightly under 24 Mbps in Russia.
