A federal court in the US has ruled against X (formerly Twitter).
According to him, the company violated contracts by not paying millions of dollars in bonuses that were promised to employees.
This comes as a result of a lawsuit filed by Mark Schobiner, Twitter’s former senior director of compensation. In June, he filed a breach of contract claim on Twitter.
Schobinger’s lawsuit alleged that before and after Elon Musk bought Twitter last year, he promised employees 50% of his target bonuses for 2022 but never showed any such cash.
The company’s lawyers argued that it only made an oral promise, which does not constitute a contract, and that the case is governed by Texas law. The judge ruled that the case was governed by California law and that “all of Twitter’s arguments to the contrary are not accepted.” [Reuters]
