When issuing a loan, banks will require a TIN from Russians. This is how organizations will check whether the client has a self-ban: the law that will establish this protection mechanism against fraudsters will come into force in 2025. Anatoly Aksakov, chairman of the State Duma Financial Market Committee, told Izvestia.

Russians will need to have a TIN when applying for a loan

TIN will be used instead of SNILS. It will be necessary to establish a self-prohibition for granting loans. Subsequently, when applying for a loan, banks will contact the credit history bureau and, based on the data received, will decide whether the client’s application can be approved.

According to the deputy, this deadline is indicated in the document because a serious reconfiguration of the system will be necessary. It will be necessary to establish interaction between banks and BKI, and this will take time, the parliamentarian stressed.

In May 2023, the debt of citizens to banks exceeded 30 trillion rubles. The debt level then reached 41%. The highest debt burden was recorded in Tuva, Kalmykia and the Leningrad region.
