In December, MegaFon, MTS, Beeline, among “a number of specialized companies,” received loading of Russian M2M SIM cards for testing. Mass implementation is planned for next year.
We are talking about special SIM cards for machine-to-machine (M2M) communication, which are used in smart home devices, industry, ATMs and much more.
The Micron plant will produce chips for this card. It plans to sell at least “hundreds of thousands” of chips per year from 2024. Next year, certification of cryptographic information protection means for microcircuits on a SIM card will begin.
NM-Tech will also produce chips, as reported by Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Vasily Shpak. [Коммерсантъ]
