Yandex’s Yango introduced a beta version of the media service for Middle East and North African countries. Yango Spark is an app for movies, TV series, music and games supported by Yasmina voice assistant. A full launch is planned before the end of the year, Kommersant has learned.
So far, the app works in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Bahrain, Oman, and Kuwait, and supports English and Arabic languages.
According to the publication’s sources, the Yango Spark subscription will be similar to Yandex Plus and the monthly cost will be approximately 208 rubles.
Russian media services Yandex will be able to promote original content through this platform. Its Russian origin and competition with Spotify and Netflix can complicate the service’s promotion and content, experts say.
