A company worker was attacked by robots during a “serious and violent outage” at the Giga Texas plant near Austin, according to the report.
The robot pinned the man, who was programming software for two nearby disabled Tesla robots, before sinking its metal claws into the worker’s back and arm, leaving a “trail of blood” on the surface of the facility.
The incident, which left an “open wound” on the victim’s left arm, was revealed only in a 2021 injury report filed with Travis County and federal regulators.
While no other robot-related injuries have been reported at Tesla’s Texas factory in 2021 or 2022, the incident comes amid years of concerns about the risks of creating and mass deploying robots.
