This information first appeared in a Bloomberg report in 2021 and was confirmed by 9to5Mac’s sources.

Initial plans to redesign the iPad Pro with a glass back to be compatible with wireless charging were canceled due to concerns that the glass would make the device too fragile.

However, Apple continued to explore ways to add technology support to the iPad Pro. One of the prototypes featured an enlarged glass Apple logo on the back, while the rest of the back would be made of aluminum.

This will allow energy to be transferred through the glass logo without affecting the power of the iPad.

It’s unclear whether this plan will come true or if Apple will find another way to implement MagSafe on the iPad. The iPad Pro is expected to receive a major update as early as 2024, featuring an OLED display, M3 chip, and redesigned Magic Keyboard, as well as a new version of the Apple Pencil.
