The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kazakhstan confirmed the extradition to Russia of the head of the department for developing solutions for the comprehensive fight against complex cyberattacks of FACCT (formerly Group-IB), Nikita Kislitsin, charged under part 3 of Art. 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal access to computer information protected by law) and Part 2 of Art. 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (extortion).

Kazakhstan confirmed the extradition of the top manager of the former Group IB, Nikita Kislitsin, to Russia

“On December 21, 2023, in accordance with the established procedure, Kislitsin was handed over to representatives of Russian law enforcement agencies,” TASS reports, citing the department’s press service.

The Russian Prosecutor’s Office believes that Kislitsin and other participants in the fraud, having illegally gained access to the server data of one of the companies, tried to obtain payments of half a million rubles through blackmail for keeping the information secret.

Kislitsin has been in the hands of the Kazakh authorities since December 21, but the prosecutor’s office had not officially confirmed information about it until now.

Nikita was detained at Almaty airport on June 22, 2023. This occurred at the request of Interpol, since the United States Department of Justice also requested the extradition of a FACCT employee, who in this country was accused of several major hacker attacks in 2020 (on LinkedIn, Dropbox and Formspring).

At the beginning of this year, the Federal Security Service completed an investigation into the case against the founder of the IB Group, Ilya Sachkov, accused of treason: the capital’s court sentenced the businessman to 14 years in prison.
