Samsung unveiled the world’s first transparent MicroLED screen at CES 2024.

The company placed three displays on the stand, two of which had tinted glass and one was completely transparent. Tinted glass covered all the objects in the background, so they did not interfere with looking at the picture.

All screens are approximately 1 cm thick and have a frameless design. The displays are very clear and rich. Journalists who saw them live said that this is very strongly reflected in the hologram that floats in the air.

According to Samsung, the transparent MicroLED displays are significantly different from the transparency of OLED screens. They also reduce the influence of ambient light.

A company representative did not say when the technology will appear in production devices or how much they will cost. But you shouldn’t count on a low price. Today, the only Samsung TV with an opaque MicroLED screen costs $149,999 or 13.6 million rubles. [Engadget]
