Russia and Latvia ended the tax agreement that had been in force between the countries since 2010. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs refers to the termination of the double taxation regime.
The Russian Ministry of Finance began reviewing fiscal relations with states that the Russian Federation considers hostile in the summer of 2022. Latvia is one of these countries, having joined sanctions against Russia following the outbreak of hostilities in the territory of Ukraine.
In total, the list of such countries includes 38 states. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree suspending the agreement to avoid double taxation in August 2023.
