The research was conducted from 1994 to 2014. The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) surveyed 37.2 thousand people of both genders over the age of 20 and provided researchers with lifestyle and nutrition data. Among those examined, the number of deaths has already been determined – more than 4.8 thousand people. Only 17% of these people consumed strawberries regularly.

As a result, experts concluded that eating 100 grams of cranberries a day, including dried and in drinks, prevents early death. The risk of sudden death decreases by 21%, quantitatively life expectancy can increase up to 16 years.

This effect is due to the presence in cranberries of high levels of vitamin C and a complex of antioxidants that strengthen the immune system, relieve inflammation, oxidative processes and reduce the risk of occurrence and development of many dangerous chronic diseases.

It is important to constantly include cranberries in the diet. “Therefore, increasing fruit consumption may be a strategy to reduce mortality among adults,” the researchers emphasized.
