The Russian Interior Ministry plans to use neural networks in the search for criminals

The first will help identify cases of falsification of video images in the interests of law enforcement agencies, “Conjuncture” should predict negative events and emergency situations and model response scenarios to them, writes Vedomosti.

These activities are included in the plan for the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies in the activities of the internal affairs bodies of Russia for the period 2023-2025. The plan was approved by Russia’s Deputy Interior Minister Vitaly Shulika.

In November 2020, the ministry developed a project to introduce artificial intelligence into research activities. The digital transformation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs could cost the federal budget 55 billion rubles.

It was planned to start testing the developments in 2023. Artificial intelligence should “determine the individual anatomical characteristics of a person” using biomaterials from the crime scene. The technology will be fully ready for use in 2024.
