Global sales of electric vehicles grew by a third by the end of 2023. In total, 13.6 million electric cars were sold. In Russia, 14.9 thousand copies were sold, almost three times more than in 2022.

Global EV sales up a third by end of 2023

At the end of 2023, 13.6 million electric vehicles were sold worldwide, 31% more than in 2022. Reuters writes about this with reference to data from Rho Motion.

During the year, 9.5 million electric cars and 4.1 million hybrid cars were sold. At the same time, the peak of sales occurred in December 2023: 1.5 million copies were sold, a record figure for the month.

In 2022, global electric vehicle sales growth was 60%, and in 2024 it will be up to 30%, analysts predict.

In Russia in 2023, almost 14.9 thousand electric vehicles were sold, 290% more than in 2022.
