The difference between the income of the richest and poorest families in Russia in 2022 has been reduced by nine times. This was reported by RBC with reference to Rosstat’s “Selective observation of the population’s income and participation in social programs.” The data was published at the end of 2023.

Rosstat recorded a reduction in the difference between the income of the richest and poorest Russians

According to Rosstat, the 10% of the country’s residents with the highest income earned on average 101.2 thousand rubles per month, and the 10% of citizens with the lowest income earned 11.1 thousand rubles. The figures were taken per household member.

The share of household income of different groups of 10% in the total volume of cash income in the Russian Federation has also changed. Thus, in 2022, the highest income group represented 26.7% of all cash income, and the “poorest” families represented 2.9%. In 2021, these figures stood at 27.1% and 2.6%, respectively.

For households with the lowest income levels, labor costs represent 56.9% of total income. This group has a high proportion of social payments: it exceeds 40%. In most cases these are benefits and compensations.

The highest-income households receive 91% of their income from work. Social payments represent only 6.6%, of which 5.3% are pensions.

The highest average salaries per family member, according to Rosstat, occur in households whose heads of household work in finance, insurance, real estate, scientific, technical and administrative services – about 35 thousand rubles.
