“PhotoResus” is a new software package that enables rapid and reliable determination of blood group phenotype via smartphone. The new technology is designed to improve the work of doctors and reduce the risk of complications during blood transfusions. The service is expected in the medical market within two years, the university said.
The program uses computer vision technology for image processing and a central server for analysis. Doctors will have access to an application on smartphones that simplifies the process of verifying patients’ blood types. This is especially true for hospitals that have a shortage of laboratory specialists.
“PhotoResus” will help eliminate the human factor and reduce equipment costs, saving the funds necessary to verify the results of blood group analysis.
