Russian authorities are preparing to challenge in court the possible confiscation of Russian assets blocked abroad. Bloomberg writes about this citing sources.

According to the agency, the Central Bank plans to enter into an agreement with international law firms that could represent Russia in court. Foreign legislation is also currently being studied for relevant precedents, Bloomberg notes.

Experts interviewed by Bloomberg were inclined to believe that the United States and the European Union have little chance of winning in court.

The agency estimates the volume of Russian assets blocked and subject to possible confiscation abroad at $200 billion in the European Union and $5 billion in the United States.
