Many people feel a certain nostalgia for the mobile devices they had many years ago. Maybe because it was our first phone, or because it had a game we really liked, or a certain feature, there’s always that old phone it distinguished us in some special way. Moreover, today some companies are taking advantage of this nostalgia, especially HMC Global and Nokia, and to a certain extent BlackBerry, to offer us new devices that in some way remind us of those old phones. Therefore, we have collected the best old phones that we would like to see resurrected, yes, in some modern interpretation, of course!

NOKIA N-GAGE

The original N-Gage was released in 2003 as a response to handheld gaming machines from Nintendo, Sega and other manufacturers. Although the truth is that games were borderline terrible back then.

And of course, a gaming phone without decent games was doomed to failure.

However, today this is not the case, and mobile gaming is a multi-billion dollar global industry.

Most games can be played on all phones, but we are forced to use third-party controls if we want to recreate the gameplay that N-Gage offered 15 years ago.

Nokia is currently experiencing a revival and its retro phones are a big hit among phone fans. So why not give N-Gage another chance?

MOTOROLA REZ V3I

The Motorola Razr is a classic phone that many of us once owned. The V3i was one of the last models in the Razr family before Motorola updated it with the less successful Razr2. It was a near-perfect implementation of the foldable phone style.

Now Motorola has reintroduced part of its name on its latest phones like the Moto G6, indicating that it is looking to sell its vast heritage.

What about the new Razr when foldable screens become possible? We are not far away and have already seen the first versions: ZTE Axon M, for example.

MOTOROLA AURA R1

AURA from Motorola

We wish we had the original R1 phone sitting on our display shelf right now. The Aura R1 had a round smartwatch-like display covered with sapphire crystal and a stainless steel body.

It’s described as a foldable phone, but instead of having a top opening, it had a rotating casing to reveal a keypad, and this was made possible by an incredibly complex gear system designed and manufactured in Switzerland. The gears were visible through a panel on the back of the phone. Today, smart watches imitate mechanical watches, but a real work of art has become a phone that imitates a mechanical watch.

Don’t change Motorola too much, just bring back Aura in some form. Perhaps a pocket smartwatch?

LG CHOCOLATE

While in the United States there were only a few Chocolate phones that weren’t actually chocolate, in Europe and Asia the range was more extensive and included the red touch buttons that became the symbol of the Chocolate phone.

Most of them were slider phonesbut towards the end of the line in 2009, the BL40 widescreen full-screen phone looked very different.

It even had a 21:9 aspect ratio, reminiscent of the 18:9 and 19:9 trend we see today. We’d love to see LG use the design talent that created the Chocolate line again.

NOKIA 7280

One of the most unusual mass-produced phones ever released, the Nokia 7280 is often referred to as a phone. pomade and to understand why, you just have to look at it. Moreover, its small screen turned into a mirror when nothing was shown. Why do we want to see this again? And why not? It’s completely different from everything else!

PALM PRE

Palm official preview

Why do we want the Palm Pre to come back?

BlackBerry’s KeyOne has shown that there is demand for a phone with a physical keyboard and caters to those who are interested in such a device virtually on their own.

Those who remember the Palm Pre will no doubt dream of a mobile revival of webOS (the operating system for phones), but the software thrived more on TVs.

Instead, a Pre-style Android phone with the same cute design, wireless charging, and slide-out keyboard would certainly attract a lot of attention today.
