A major alcohol importer and distributor, Luding Group, will produce tequila under the Don Chiku and La Pavesa brands in the Moscow region. The company received permission from the Mexican government to carry out spills.

Production in different price categories is scheduled to begin in January. The group has not disclosed investments in the launch of brands or the expected volumes of the spill, writes Kommersant.

In 2023, Luding increased tequila imports by more than 50% year-on-year, up to 236 thousand liters. In total, 3.1 million liters of tequila were imported into the country between January and November, compared to 2.04 million liters the previous year.

  • Previously, producers of vodka, gin, whiskey and wine notified chains of a 10% price increase from 2024, with importers expecting suppliers to increase prices between 5% and 25%.
