Small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) increased their turnover by 23% in 2023 compared to 2022, according to a study by analysts of the MoySklad service, reviewed by RB.RU.
The driver of growth continues to be online commerce, mainly marketplaces: its revenue increased by 28%, while in traditional retail trade the growth was 13%.
The number of online orders per company increased by 12% in 2023, but the growth rate slowed and began to fall completely in October. Thus, in October 2023 there were 5% fewer orders compared to October 2022, in November, 23% less compared to November, and in December, 28% less compared to the same month in 2022.
Traditional retail trade shows positive dynamics. The number of revenues per retail company increased by 11% year-on-year in 2023, with constant month-on-month growth. The average check grew by 16% in 2023.
“2023 was a good year for business; Rising incomes of the population in the regions due to the defense industry and tourism stimulated demand, which was consistently high throughout the year. The business was able to replace products that had left the Russian Federation; New brands appeared on the shelves of Russian stores, to which, as it turned out, the consumer was open,” said Askar Rakhimberdiev, CEO of MoySklad.
A representative of the service predicts the growth of new SMEs in 2024, “if crisis situations do not occur”
For the study, “My warehouse” evaluated the turnover, income and number of orders of 40 thousand service client companies operating in traditional and online retail trade.
