The idea is not new, and Google-owned Waze has a long history of using Bluetooth beacons in tunnels around the world. These features, which were previously only available on the Waze app, will now help drivers navigate tunnels and Google Maps.
The new feature can be found under Navigation Settings and Driving Options. It is off by default, but turning it on allows you to seamlessly navigate tunnels with a weak GPS signal, increasing location accuracy, ensuring safety, and tracking events in the tunnel in real time.
