The Higher School of Economics of the National Research University, together with the social network VKontakte, is launching a pilot project to issue NFT diplomas. This was reported by the HSE press service.

HSE will start issuing NFT diplomas

The document will be made in the form of a digital image with programmed metadata about the graduate. It will also indicate the program the student completed and the year of graduation.

The first NFT diplomas will be issued to graduates of 38 higher education programs at the Faculty of Law between 2019 and 2023. Such documents are protected against falsification and blockchain technology guarantees the integrity of the diploma and eliminates the possibility of making changes.

According to Galina Mozhaeva, first deputy vice-rector of the Higher School of Economics of the National Research University, receiving a diploma in NFT format increases the chances of a successful career, as it can attract employers.

“The project is also important in general for the higher education system of our university, which is confidently developing digital services and from January 2024 is moving to a new digital platform, where in the future it will be possible to integrate the service for obtain NFT diplomas are deposited in the personal account of students of additional educational programs in the educational market of HSE University,” said Mozhaeva.

Previously, VKontakte, within the framework of cooperation with ITMO, provided its users with the opportunity to confirm their education using an NFT diploma. Also in Russia they will test the release of NFTs for art objects. Such a project was launched by Interros and the Hermitage of Vladimir Potanin.
